Overview
A European bus manufacturer that specializes in utilizing alternative fuel such as (CNG, biogas, gas, electric hybrid, and pure electric) have been making great strides in its design and development by creating exceptionally quiet and near emission-free buses.
Distinguished by its modern technological designs and promise of low operation costs, their electric buses can operate for an unlimited time, up to 24 hours a day. The control center and onboard computer are in constant communication to monitor the battery and operating statuses. Whether it is a recharge from regenerative braking, or a quick recharge when returning to the main station, schedules are planned. The onboard computer is responsible for tracking most electrical system statuses, displaying transportation information, providing internet access, and gathering daily data.
A popular option in multiple cities across Europe, their low-noise electric motor operation and emission-free drive-train are perfect for daily city center applications.
Challenges
Finding a computer to deploy into a vehicle is always challenging. High operating temperature environment, shock and vibration, confined space for installation, and power source delivery are all areas of concern. On top of the mentioned challenges, the computer must also have wireless 4G/ 5G communication to central control center, V2X functionality, provide WiFi access to onboard users, display output capability, ticketing system, OBD-II for vehicle information, and PoE/ GbE/ USB camera connectivity.
A system integrator may end up deploying multiple computers to handle two or three tasks. This is fine, but it does mean that it will consume extra installation space and electrical power (more cabling).
Solution
The Neousys VTC series are rugged expandable in-vehicle computers designed to withstand harsh operation environments on trucks, buses, and rolling stock. VTC series have patented heat dissipation, shock and vibration resistant design, making them extra stable during mobile operations.
Connectivity-wise, VTC series sports Power over Ethernet/ USB ports for cameras, video display output for onboard information system, expansion slots for wireless communication modules, CAN bus ports for monitoring vehicle statuses, and COM ports for connecting to onboard information devices (ticketing machines, bell system, etc.) where deploying just the one system may take care of all the needs on the bus.
The VTC platforms also feature true wide-temperature operation, ignition control, EN 50155, and E-Mark certification, it can serve as a multi-purpose gateway and meeting the demands of various in-vehicle and mass transportation applications.
