AI-enabled machine vision has long pervaded the automotive manufacturing industry, ensuring quality consistency in process and increasing overall production efficiency. The new AI inspection system incorporates industrial cameras, robots, flexible part feeders and vision software that could inspect mixed models with minimum hardware adjustments. At the heart of the AI inspection system is a Neousys Technology GPU computer connected to five GigE cameras. Two of which focuses on the inspection station providing 3D stereoscopic views during inspection; another two cameras look down over the flexible bowl feeders to inform the robot of pick locations; while the last camera provides barcode verification at the end of the process. All is analyzed and controlled by a custom machine vision software installed on Nuvo-9160GC.
